                                DAVID BEDFORD
"When you spend a life time in construction, you have appreciation and respect for the skill and effort that went into creating these wonderful old buildings and I think that empathy is evident in my paintings.

Although I often use photographs for accuracy in detail, I first have to spend time absorbing the aura of a building before I can capture on paper its magic and personality."
David retired from the Construction Industry nearly 10 years ago and has spent much of that time developing his skills as a watercolour artist.

Having relocated from the Natal Coast to McGregor he is enjoying the  peace and beauty of the village and the surrounding mountains, which, with the light and clarity of an  unpolluted atmosphere, is a profound spiritual experience.

McGregor provides an abundance of inspiring subjects.

David has a passion for buildings and finds the numerous examples of Cape Dutch and Victorian architecture in this region irresistible subjects for painting , either purely for his own satisfaction or by commission for the proud owners.

Such studies are often most popular in monochrome - say Indigo or Sepia
