Welcome to Mulberry Studio,

.....the lovely village gallery that displays works by the artists of McGregor, that special Village in the Breede River Valley of the Western Cape, South Africa.

The charming well preserved mid 19th century village of McGregor with its quaint, thatched cottages at the foot of the Riviersonderend Mountains, offers outdoor activities, art and crafts, tranquility and relaxation. Surrounded by mountain trails, fruit orchards, olive groves and the vineyards which supply McGregor winery, the village has maintained a rural peaceful ambience inspirational to its artists.

The village lies at the end of the road from Robertson in the Western Cape.  Yes, the road ends at McGregor. It was intended to continue the road to Greyton, on the other side of the Sonderend range but, alas, the money for the road was somehow "lost"  so it actually ends up in the mountains.

Amongst its many charms are the beautifully maintained buildings, described in The Old Buildings of the Cape as the best preserved village in the Cape.

Merchants there are but not a-plenty; just a few good quality shops, where you may browse through a variety of  goods ranging from a wonderfully stocked deli to antique furniture, old linens, silver, glasswear & table settings with old  bone-china to hand painted 'distressed '  furniture. A must when visiting McGregor is to  view the works of McGregor's talented artists at  Mulberry Studio

McGregor' many gifted artists work in a variety of media: oils, watercolour, pastel, acrylic, pencil and charcoal to cite but a few. Some works of local artists hang in homes and galleries throughout the world.

There are a few Galleries in McGregor, of which Mulberry Studio is the longest established. It is on the corner of Tindall and Voortrekker Streets; has become the centre for displaying the work of the artists/sculptors/potters of McGregor and no visit to McGregor would be complete without a visit to Mulberry Studio.

Other galleries/studio's include Jo's Studio at The Lion House and Mill Stone Pottery should not be missed during your visit to McGregor

There is an Internet Cafe tucked discreetly inside Mulberry Studio Art Gallery.

Gracious B&B’s, beautiful  self-catering cottages as well as rustic self catering accommodation on a working farm - always a hit with the children, are just some of the accommodation on offer. See our Tourism Website for accommodation bookings.

We are passionate about our village and artists, please do contact us here should you need more information on McGregor, or its artists.
